Analysis Of Bad Installation Of Ductile Iron Pipe Fittings

Ductile iron pipe fittings have been widely used in urban water supply network due to its advantages such as high toughness, good sealing performance, and convenient installation and construction.

Poor installation of ductile iron pipe fittings:

During installation, the force on the ductile iron pipe fittings is uneven or the pipe is not hoisted correctly, which increases the friction resistance, so that the pipe is not easy to be put in place. Because when rope pulley is used for installation, pulleys on both sides of ductile iron pipe fittings are not easy to be on the center line of the pipe. Even if the force on both sides of the ductile iron pipe fittings is the same, the force on the ductile iron pipe fittings cannot be uniform. In this case, make a steel saddle (its inner diameter is slightly larger than the outer diameter of the pipe) and weld the hook at the position where its lower opening is at the center line of the pipe. The saddle shall be placed at the socket end during installation, so that the force on both sides of the ductile iron pipe fittings is uniform during installation.

The rubber seal ring of nodular cast iron pipe fittings was not installed correctly, and the rubber ring was separated from its original position due to large friction during the installation of nodular cast iron pipe fittings. The socket is out of round due to non-standard operation during transportation and hoisting, which leads to difficult installation. This kind of situation is rare. For out of round ductile iron pipe fittings, tools are required to calibrate the roundness. As the commonly used lubricant is soapy water, it can hardly play a role in lubrication in the case of ponding groove or high temperature. In this case, we usually choose edible oil with high viscosity as the lubricant.

Ductile iron pipe fittings have been treated internally and externally before leaving the factory, and are finished pipes. It is OK to transport to the site for direct installation and use. Ductile iron pipe fittings shall be installed by crane and sling under normal conditions, and shall not be hoisted by steel wire rope, which will cause friction between steel wire and pipe body and layer damage when ductile iron pipe fittings are stressed.
