The working principle of the rotary piston volumetric water meter is based on the water pressure, which drives the rotary piston to rotate in the measurement chamber, and measures the amount of water flowing through it by the number of rotations of the piston. The specific process is as follows:
1. Water inflow and outflow mechanism: Water enters the measurement chamber from the lower inlet and drives the rotating piston to rotate around the central axis of the measurement chamber. Water flows from the empty space inside the piston and the empty space formed by the piston and the measuring chamber wall to the upper outlet for discharge. As the piston rotates, the volume of the low-pressure end gradually decreases, while the volume of the high-pressure end continues to increase.
2. Measurement mechanism: The rotation of the rotating piston is connected to the counting mechanism through a rotating shaft and a shift fork, recording the number of times the piston rotates. Every time the piston rotates once, it is equivalent to the volume of water in a measuring chamber being squeezed out of the outlet. By recording the number of piston rotations, the total volume flowing through the water meter can be calculated.
3. Features: The rotary piston water meter has the characteristics of high measurement level, strong small flow measurement ability, and high sensitivity. Due to its working principle, high requirements for water quality, and complex repair and debugging, it has not been widely used in China and is mainly used for measuring purified water in pipelines.
4. Application scenario: Rotary piston water meters are generally used for measuring small caliber specifications and are commonly used for measuring purified water in pipelines. Its diameter is generally 8, 15, and 20 millimeters.
